The Open Day at the University of Warsaw Doctoral Schools will be held on 9th April online. The live-streaming will be available in Polish and English. In addition to presentations of the schools and admission procedures, candidates will have an opportunity to participate in a discussion with speakers during the “Doctorate – a school of life” webinar.
The Open Day at the University of Warsaw Doctoral Schools is organised for anyone who is thinking of commencing doctoral studies at the University of Warsaw. The doctoral education at the University of Warsaw is conducted by the four units: Doctoral School of Humanities, Doctoral School of Social Sciences, Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Doctoral School.
The meeting starts at 10:00, 9th April ((Saturday). The participants will be presented the educational programmes of the doctoral schools and procedures of the admission.
The meeting is divided into three parts:
- Part 1: live-streaming on YouTube. Each doctoral school (Doctoral School of Humanities, Doctoral School of Social Sciences, Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Doctoral School) will present their educational offer. Professor Alojzy Z. Nowak, UW Rector, will join this part of the event. Further, the President of PhD Students’ Union will discuss PhD activities;
- Part 2: the discussion via the Zoom platform about admission procedures, and the question and answer session;
- Part 3: the webinar “Doctorate – a school of life” by Prof. Andrzej Wysmołek. The lecture will be followed by a discussion with representatives of the UW PhD Students’ Union.

The rules of admission to doctoral studies:
- Announcement of the UW rector on the rules of admission to doctoral schools at the University of Warsaw;
- Ordinance of the UW rector on the admissions schedule and rules for registering candidates to doctoral schools in the academic year 2022/2023;
- Resolution of the UW rector on the admission procedure fee for carrying out the qualification procedure to the doctoral school at the University of Warsaw.

The Welcome Point prepared two workshops for the UW international employees who have recently arrived in Poland. One workshop provides practical information on the structure and culture of the University of Warsaw, and another workshop deals with the cultural orientation and basics of the Polish culture. The registration deadline is 23rd March. It is possible to participate in both workshops.
Onboarding for international staff
This is a practical training on the structure and culture of the University of Warsaw. The meeting is held on 28th March, between 16:30 – 20:00, at 56/66 Dobra Street (the Volunteer Centre of the University of Warsaw).
The workshop objectives:
- handling the culture shock and acculturation process;
- the Polish academic culture: academic values and cultural differences, the organisational culture and the structure of the University of Warsaw;
- dimensions of culture in the context of work in the Polish higher education institution.
For the CAS account holders, the registration is available through the Kampus platform >> not later than 23rd March, at 14:00.
Courses implemented under Action II.2.3. “Support of the relocation process of employees from abroad by introducing solutions facilitating involvement of new foreign employees to work at UW and preparation to stay in Poland” of the Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB) at the University of Warsaw.
Poland and Poles
The cultural orientation training is dedicated to the international staff of the University of Warsaw. The meeting will take place on 31st March, from 16:30 to 20:00, at 56/66 Dobra Street (the Volunteer Centre of the University of Warsaw).
Workshop objectives:
- a short overview of the Polish Culture: symbols, important figures, behaviour, communication styles and values;
- selected aspects of living in Warsaw;
- the most significant Polish historical, geographical and cultural contexts;
- important dates and traditions in Poland.
The registration via the Kampus platform is open until 23rd March, 14:00. The CAS account is needed to sign-up.
